Description and Purpose
To enhance my pottery throwing capabilities and experiment with the creative thought process that is induced when you create pottery. If it were allowed I would be in crafts throwing pottery all day and all night, hence the reason I desire to do it at home. Likewise, I plan on going to college for ceramics and major in english so this project would help prepare me for college greatly. Also, I significantly enjoy any opportunity to be creative, so being able to set my own guidelines for a creative project excites me. This project was conceived when I opened my pottery wheel on Christmas morning. I decided to incorporate the poetry aspect because my original senior project idea was to make a rap album. I decided against that because I enjoy writing poems more and think they are more powerful and respectable than a rap song. Similarly, I would rather throw pottery than compose music. I would like to master new techniques and learn to express words through pottery. I'm interested in putting my poetry on the pottery so I must learn the best way to do that. Likewise I think it would be cool to paint a picture that represents one of my poems onto a piece of pottery. I think the only question I seek to answer is if throwing pottery will boost my intellectual creativity and lead to interesting poetry. Otherwise, it's mainly just learning and mastering new techniques.
